Are Akitas really that bad?
Risks. If not properly trained and socialized, the Akita will pose a risk to the safety of other animals and people. Any dog that isn’t correctly reared can become aggressive or badly behaved, but large, athletic, confident dogs like Akitas are more capable of hurting people when out of control.
Can you adopt an Akita?
TikiHut Akita Rescue Association (TARA), is located in Northern California. We are a small organization run solely by volunteers, dedicated to rehoming and rehabilitating Akitas. These are Akitas that are still in the shelters waiting to be adopted, or in private homes, with owners that are needing to rehome them.
